What Have we Been Up to?

Hello!

It has been a while since we have last checked in. We have been busy with getting everything ready for our great trip this summer!

One of the main things we have been doing as a crew has been whitewater training. In order to prepare for the immense amount of large rapids that we will see on our trip, we have been paddling in either canoes or whitewater kayaks a bunch this spring. This will help our crew be ready when the time comes to shoot some big rapids on the Coppermine River!

Hitting a rapid set on the Mississippi River!

Some of the other things that we have been doing as a crew include setting our menu and routing our trip. Setting the menu for our trip consists of picking out all of the foods that we want to bring with for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even some desserts!

The most recent meeting that we had was all about routing our trip. We spent a few hours setting up two sets of maps, learning all about the route from Jack, and deciding how far we would travel each day. This is a really fun part of the planning process for us guides because we take a step back and let the guys decide where they want to get each day. It is amazing to see how encouraged they are to travel some big distances each day!

Everyone setting up the maps!

We will be very busy up until the 16th to fully prepare for the trip. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication from your boys to make a trip like this happen. All of the work is more than worth it once we are on trail and living in paradise!

Keep an eye out here for more updates on our preparation progress!

Thank you,

Trace and Donovan

Introduction!

Hello! My name is Trace Wagner and I am one of the Co-Guides for this years Far North trip to the Coppermine River! My involvement with the Program started in 2020 with my first year trip and 2021 with my Far North trip in Alaska! I guided in 2022 and 2023 as well. I am really excited for this summers trip!

I am currently in my fourth year at NDSU studying Business Administration with a Minor in Biology and a Certificate in Sales. Outside of school, I love spending time outdoors with friends!

I am so thankful to have the opportunity to guide again this summer. I love passing on my passion for the outdoors to others and this is the best way I could ever do it! I can’t wait to get to know everyone better and create the memories of a lifetime this summer!
