Hi friends and family!!

On Sunday, we officially had our first crew meeting where we FINALLY got to meet each other IN-PERSON! We started off the day meeting at Coldstone and grabbing some ice cream. I explained to the girls the rules of the road and the expectations for getting out to basecamp. Once we got out to basecamp, I gave the girls a tour of their second home for the summer! From there, we brainstormed some characteristics that a Voyageur should have and talked about crew expectations/goals. I absolutely love the ideas the girls had and am so excited to watch us achieve our crew goals! Let’s just say that we are going to be PROS at pushups by the end of the summer and the girls will be very tired of hearing the song Firework by Katy Perry-ask your daughters for context on this-it’s quite the story :)

We ended our meeting by learning how to flip canoes onto our shoulders using a very specific step by step process that uses the entire body rather than just using arm strength. I was so impressed by the girls’ strength and their positive attitudes through the whole learning process. Flipping canoes is arguably one of the hardest skills to master. The girls had such positive attitudes throughout and were so encouraging to one another! Once everyone had learned how to flip up a canoe, we went on their first portage to the tennis courts-about a quarter of a mile!

I have been on Cloud 9 since our first crew meeting!! I absolutely cannot wait to watch our crew start to gel and watch the transformations the girls have!
